Daas Torah

I read a post on someones blog recently dealing with what they described as the new phenomenon of daas Torah so I thought that I'd add my tuppence here:

Long long ago, in a land far far away Jews were brought up on Torah with minimal cultural input from outside. That meant that a person approached any part of life with Torah as their primary influence. Today most of us have been affected by Hollywoodism, either directly or indirectly. The average joe does not see the world from the perspective of Torah. Only someone who has truly flushed out the alien influences and replaced them with Torah and avodas Hashem is going to be able to do so.

As far as understand it, daas Torah isn't some kind of superpower, it's the rare quality of being permeated by Torah.
